Academic libraries strive to empower students and faculty by providing resources and services specifically designed to meet their needs. The library’s staff makes those resources and services available, which is why Elizabeth (Niles) Gutierrez is being recognized as the featured staff member of Gillette College in February 2024.
Library Service Director Samantha Griffis nominated Elizabeth. “Elizabeth’s passion for libraries, research, and learning combined with the knowledge she brings makes her a great asset for Gillette College. No matter what project or task she is tackling, she brings invaluable insight and motivation to the task. Elizabeth started her career here fast and furious and continues to embrace the dynamic environment,” stated Griffis.
Her career at Gillette College began when she was a student in 2016. Then, in 2022, she moved into a full-time position as a Library Information Specialist. Currently, she is working on her master’s degree in library science.
Many students frequent the library as a source of information or a place to work peacefully. It is also a place to encourage learning in a fun and relaxed environment, celebrating different holidays and sparking the creativity of students with “tiny art.” Elizabeth is integral to creating that environment; we at Gillette College are fortunate to have her on our team!
