Gillette College Basketball Teams Both Advance to Post-Season

The regular season for the Gillette College basketball teams concluded Saturday evening with satisfaction and excitement for Pronghorn fans. The men’s team played first, beating Northwest College 102-57, solidifying their ranking at the top of Region IX North to finish the season. The women’s team wrapped up their regular season with a dramatic win over Northwest, winning 72-71, cinching their chance to host the first round of regional playoffs.

The Pronghorns brought basketball back to Gillette College in an exciting fashion. “I cannot express how proud I am of our student-athletes, Coach Neary, Coach Lewis, their coaching staff, and our community. The support the Gillette community has shown to not only basketball but all of the sports at the college makes the return of athletics to our institution worth it. Pronghorn Pride is strong in Gillette,” stated Dr. Janell Oberlander, President of Gillette College.

The women’s team hosts the first round of the regional tournament this Friday, March 8, at 6 pm at the Pronghorn Center. The men’s team waits their turn to play, traveling to Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, on March 14 with a 3 pm tipoff. The opponent will be determined after the first round is completed this Saturday.
