The Elementary Education program is designed to mirror the focus of the State of Wyoming in real-time as changes and progress are made in the PK-12 Education system. Gillette College provides training for the best practices supported by research and demanded in the workplace.

This Elementary Education program is designed to prepare students for success in a number of career pathways. Our small class sizes and experienced faculty provide students with the individualized attention they need to succeed. Our students also have the opportunity to participate in hands-on projects and internships. If you are interested in a career in Elementary Education, Gillette College is a great option.

  • Experienced faculty: Our Teacher Education Department faculty has over 40 years of teaching and leadership experience. Our faculty continues to be current in the latest education research and teaches students of all ages to be teachers fit for the changing educational landscape.
  • Small class sizes: Teacher Education Department courses have a limit of 20 students because of the researched focus on clinical practice field experiences in schools to apply the course learning as early in the program as possible. Teacher Education Courses are also focused on serving your individual learning needs whether you are still in high school or this avenue is your second career path.
  • High success rate: Students who complete an Elementary or Secondary Education AS Degree from Gillette College have demonstrated a high rate of success in completing their BA programs and have moved forward to obtain teacher licensure.

The Elementary Education AS Program is designed to provide the initial foundation for preparing qualified teachers and related personnel for elementary schools.  The program enables students to assess interest, aptitude, and capabilities for a career in education.  The program prepares students to transfer to a Baccalaureate program.
