On December 2, 2024, Gillette Community College District reached a significant milestone in its journey toward accreditation by officially submitting its Eligibility Filing, backed by an extensive compilation of nearly 4,000 pieces of evidence. This comprehensive filing is the next step following the Letter of Intent, which was submitted earlier this year. The institution submitted the Eligibility Filing three months before the March 1, 2026 deadline.
With yesterday’s submission of the Eligibility Filing, the district now must wait to receive a Letter of Eligibility from HLC. The institution hopes to receive it by February 2025 to proceed with the next step in the process.
Dr. Oberlander emphasized the collective effort involved in pursuing accreditation. “Achieving accreditation is a collaborative endeavor that requires sustained effort across all college departments. In anticipation of this submission, our deans and directors have worked tirelessly alongside faculty and staff to gather the essential evidence needed for this filing. Accreditation is a community effort, and once attained, it will be a shared triumph for everyone at Gillette College and the communities we serve,” Dr. Oberlander remarked.
While Gillette College seeks its accreditation with HLC, its academic programs continue to operate under the accreditation of the Northern Wyoming Community College District (Sheridan College).
