Technology is ever-evolving for us, and at a new collegiate institution, that evolution is occurring rapidly. As Gillette College becomes the newest community college district in Wyoming, a department that has a lot of work to do but might only sometimes be recognized is the Information Technology (IT) department. There is more than meets the eye, per se, and building an infrastructure to host hundreds of employees and students on secure systems is more challenging than going down the street and buying a router for wifi. This little-known lift is something Gillette College’s IT team has been carrying on its shoulders for the last two years.
A team player in the IT Department is Chrisondra Kern, the school’s Enterprise System Administrator. Chrisondra has been a part of Gillette College’s IT department for almost a decade, joining the college in October 2013 as a Computer Specialist. Her expertise and experience in various facets of the ITS department have made her a valuable asset to the team. Over the years, she has managed the computer and lab virtual environments, administered software deployments, helped maintain classroom technology and network connectivity across campus, and is currently involved in separation activities and building an independent infrastructure and systems for Gillette College.
Nominating Chrisondra was an easy choice by IT Director Renee Collins, “With over ten years with the Information Technology department, Chrisondra has years of experience with the technology systems on the Gillette College campus. Her knowledge has been invaluable throughout the migration and transfer of hardware, faculty, and staff to GCCD, and her contribution to the building of the GCCD infrastructure and application systems has been very much appreciated.”
Chrisondra holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis on Information Systems from Montana State – Billings and a Master of Science in Information Technology Management from Western Governors University.
