Tony Giest, Machine Tool Instructor, Nominated for Faculty Spotlight of November 2024
Gillette College is pleased to spotlight Tony Giest, Machine Tool Technology Instructor, for November 2024. Tony has been a dedicated faculty member since 2018 and has played an instrumental role in strengthening the Machine Tool program at Gillette College. His commitment to his students, the program, and the college community has made a lasting impact. 
Tony was nominated by Travis Grubb, Dean of Career and Technical Education, who praised his contributions. “Tony is an alumnus from our machine tool program and has taught full-time for Gillette College since 2018,” said Dean Grubb. “Tony worked to strengthen the machine tool advisory committee, which has been instrumental in updating the program and increasing the internship opportunities for the students.”
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Tony goes above and beyond by advising the Machine Tool Club. This group holds multiple events throughout the year to promote the machine tool program, creating opportunities for students to engage in hands-on learning and professional development.
Tony is also Gillette College’s primary SkillsUSA advisor. Under his leadership, student participation in this important competition increased, and other departments’ involvement grew. His efforts have benefited the students in his program and brought the campus together in support of student success.
“Tony is one of the most dedicated faculty members on campus and is always willing to help with events and activities (especially if ice cream is involved),” said Dean Grubb. “He is usually the first one to work in the morning and the last one to leave at night.”
Tony’s dedication to his students and passion for teaching are evident in everything he does. Whether advising student clubs, strengthening community ties, or ensuring his students are well-prepared for their careers, Tony goes the extra mile to ensure his program’s and students’ success.
