November 2024: Student Success

Nursing Student Kayla Knapp, recognized as November’s Student Spotlight

Gillette College proudly recognizes Kayla Knapp as the Student Spotlight for November 2024. Kayla is a first-year Nursing student whose positivity, hard work, and kindness make her a standout student in the Nursing program. She was nominated by her Nursing Instructor, Heather Wofford, who has been impressed by Kayla’s dedication and passion for nursing.

Instructor Wofford shared, “Kayla is incredibly positive, hardworking, and kind. She brings joy to her patients, instructors, and classmates alike. I truly believe she has the potential to change the world and will become an outstanding nurse.” Kayla’s warm and compassionate nature has already positively impacted those around her, and it’s clear that she is destined for great things in her nursing career.

When asked why she chose to attend Gillette College, Kayla shared that her decision was influenced by the college’s unique AI HAL and her desire to expand her horizons and learn about the hospitals in this area. Originally from Upstate New York, Kayla moved to Buffalo, WY, two years ago due to a job relocation in the oil and gas industry. After transitioning back into the medical field, she decided to pursue her passion for nursing as a full-time student.

Kayla credits her continued drive to work hard in the classroom to her instructors, “(they) are incredible. They are so open, friendly and professional, but if you need help with something, if you’re not getting a concept, they are so ready and willing to help, either looking into a the textbook or seeking out the answer, always taking the extra step to help.”

Gillette College is fortunate to have Kayla as part of the nursing program. Her decision to return to school and pursue nursing full-time speaks to her dedication to serving others and her strong sense of purpose. Her positive attitude, hard work, and passion for healthcare make her a well-deserving candidate for this month’s Student Spotlight. We look forward to seeing the impact Kayla will undoubtedly make as she continues to become an outstanding nurse.
