How to Apply

For those international students seeking to obtain F1 visa status to become a full-time student, please complete the following steps: 

  • Click here to create your online account and submit your application for admission.

While specific requirements may vary, most of our incoming international students are required to submit the following documents to the Admissions Office:

  • Proof of English proficiency where English is not the primary language of the resident country may be determined in the following manner: TOEFL score of 61 (iBT), or 500 (paper based), or IELTS 5.5, or Duolingo 95, or a combination of a minimum ACT 18 or SAT 510 scores, high school and/or college transcripts review, or professional judgement may be considered under the leadership of the PDSO/DSO and the AVP of Academic and Student Affairs.
  • Receipt of official secondary and post-secondary transcripts translated submitted through SpanTran Pathways. Transcripts from English-speaking countries may require evaluation, if requested by the Office of the Admissions.
  • Completed Gillette College Confidential Financial Statement (CFS) with a signed official bank statement.  You may access this document HERE.
  • CFS must demonstrate adequate funds to cover living expenses, as determined by the Office of Admissions.
  • Proof of US medical insurance coverage with effective date prior to arrival on campus.
  • Current passport, valid at least six (6) months beyond program start date.
  • Agreement to comply with the following requirements after arrival:  Register in Student & Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) with the assistance of the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) or Designated School Official (DSO).  Check in with the PDSO/DSO at the start of each semester during enrollment and prior to departing the country at any time.

  • After you submit your online application for admission, you will be emailed instructions for setting up your Hub account. However, You will need to activate your Hub account upon arrival at campus.
  • Your Hub account is used for all college communications, class discussions, and more. In addition, it is where you can register for future classes.
  • Upon acceptance to the college you will be emailed a “draft” I-20 for your review.  Upon your confirmation of the “draft” I-20, your official I-20 will be sent to you via Fed-EX to the address listed on your application for admission.
  • Before coming to the United States, all of your paperwork must be in order. This will help you avoid any violations that might prevent you from beginning classes.   • Online completion of the SEVIS Form I-901 provides a brief explanation of the fee requirement and procedure to pay online. For more detailed information on the fee payment process, go to Immigration and Customs Enforcement and review the Frequently Asked Questions.
  • Transferring International Students (with a current I-20 from another school in the U.S.) will not be charged another fee, if transfer is approved from both the current and new school.
  • Before coming to the United States, all of your paperwork must be in order. This will help you avoid any violations that might prevent you from beginning classes.   • Embassy appointments for F1 student visas may require a six month waiting period. Please plan accordingly. Please contact your closest U.S. Embassy to schedule an appointment.
  • Before coming to the United States, all of your paperwork must be in order. This will help you avoid any violations that might prevent you from beginning classes.   • International students are required to arrive on campus seven days prior to the start of classes.  Your arrival date will be communicated in your acceptance letter.  Before beginning classes, international students will meet with their Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) to check in. This process is designed to help international students acclimate to the community college experience. International students will also meet with an academic advisor to walk them through the enrollment process. This appointment will be set up through their meeting with their PDSO.
  • Prior to starting classes, new students are required to attend an orientation. The date and type of your orientation will be determined at your meeting with your advisor.  New Student Orientation is mandatory. Some of the topics to be covered for you are:

    • Academic Advising Information
  • New students completing one or more online courses are expected to complete an online learning orientation as well.
  • Books may be purchased from bookstores located on each campus or online. Shop for books and supplies using course name and section number.
