November 2023: Faculty Spotlight

Social science and psychology professor Dr. Jill Maschio was an easy nomination for the inaugural faculty spotlight at Gillette College. With over fifteen years of teaching experience at the higher education level, she brings her expertise and passion into her classrooms, inspiring her students daily.

“Dr. Maschio is a highly innovative psychology professor who uses a wide range of teaching techniques in the classroom. An example of her innovation is her taking her Biological Psychology students to Area 59 to develop a game designed to help decrease cognitive decline. She also develops creative assignments intended to help personalize the subject matter for students.” affirmed Dr. Martin Fashbaugh, Dean of Arts and Sciences.

Dr. Maschio observed her students explain their game prototype to a Gillette News Record reporter at Area 59.

Her difference at GCCD is garnering attention. While working at Area 59 with her students recently, the Gillette News Record came to ask further questions about the game prototype they are creating. The prototype has the potential to provide cognitive stimulation to individuals recovering from conditions such as strokes, TBI, and learning disabilities. When asked about her students’ project, she beamed and shared how proud she was of their great strides over the semester.

We are proud to have Dr. Maschio as a faculty member at GCCD, mentoring our students to succeed and leading by example.

Dr. Maschio holds a Doctorate in Psychology Education and a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Walden University. She also has a Master’s in Business Administration from American Intercontinental University. She also runs EvolvingIntellect.com, offering online workshops that use neuroscience to develop an andragogy curriculum for adult learners.
